Administration
Now accepting applications for the following positions:

  • Wellness Manager
  • Grocery Manager
Do you have experience managing labor and operations? Have you led an engaged team to success? Familiar with merchandising concepts? Then consider a position as a Department Manager.

We currently have openings in both Wellness and Grocery for a Manager. The Manager will oversee department operations, specifically by working with a Store Manager to plan and implement strategies to insure we meet budgeted sales and margin, by supervising personnel and by coordinating departmental merchandising with the appropriate buyer(s). The Wellness Dept. generates sales of approximately $2M annually, and the Grocery Dept. generates sales of approximately $5M annually. Other duties include: working with HR Manager to coordinate personnel actions, training, and staff development; working with Marketing and Owner Services Manager to plan promotions and storewide merchandising; and improving service delivery within the department. Both positions require: 3+ years experience serving the public, 2+ years supervisory experience, 2+ years experience in retail merchandising with a basic understanding of category management, ability to create systems and processes that ensure operational efficiency, and strong team-building skills. This position also requires leadership by example and the ability to lift 20-50 pounds repeatedly throughout a workshift. Preferred: Knowledge of natural foods and/or health and body care products, vitamins, supplements and herbal & homeopathic remedies; POS experience.

Grocery

  • Grocery Steward
Do you like to hustle? Enjoy physical work that requires attention to detail? Then apply for a position in our Grocery department. Typical duties include: assisting customers with questions and purchases; keeping shelves fully stocked with dry grocery, bulk, and frozen/refrigerated items; rotating items to guarantee freshness; and creating attractive displays of products. Position requires: 2+ years serving the public, demonstrated ability to maintain simultaneous quality and efficiency, demonstrated ability for self-direction and motivation, ability to stand for long periods and repeatedly use dominant arm and shoulder muscles, and ability to lift 50 lbs. Knowledge of natural foods and/or cooking preferred.

Produce

  • Produce Steward
Can you be productive and care for a delicate product at the same time? Then consider coming to work for the best Produce destination in Frederick. Typical duties include: preparation of produce to maintain quality, monitoring and maintaining storage conditions, creating attractive displays of fresh produce, and assisting customers with questions and purchases. Position requires: 2+ years experience serving the public, demonstrated ability to maintain simultaneous quality and efficiency, basic knowledge of how to care for and use fresh produce, and ability to lift 50 pounds and work in cold, wet conditions.

Front End

  • Cashier
Are you new to natural foods or retail but want to learn? Like making a great lasting impression? Have experience with cash handling? Cashiers complete the service experience of our customers by making sure their shopping experience met or exceeded their needs. The cashiers efficiently and accurately ring up purchases, so an eye for detail is helpful. Position requires the ability to stand for long periods of time, the ability to lift 25 pounds, good interpersonal skills, and the ability to accurately handle cash in a fast-paced transaction.

Meat, Seafood & Cheese

  • Meat, Seafood and Cheese Steward, Level I
Do you enjoy talking about seafood and cheese? Interested in helping customers make choices about their purchases? Join this new and growing service-oriented department. Typical duties include: cutting and wrapping fresh seafood and cheese, rotating product to ensure freshness, monitoring and maintaining storage conditions, creating attractive displays, and assisting customers with questions and purchases. Position requires: 1+ year experience in retail merchandising or purchasing; 2+ years experience serving the public; accuracy and attention to detail; ability to lift 50 lbs.; ability to repeatedly use dominant arm hand. Familiarity with cooking meat and seafood preferred.
